What is Wellness? Understand it and start your wellness business.

Not many people can explain “what is wellness.” I needed this challenge!

As a digital marketer, I was looking for new industries to work on. I was looking for industries that had potential. Something that could grow much bigger with a few tweaks.

That’s when I came across the wellness industry. It is already a $4.2 trillion industry. It grew by almost 13% in two years and is positioned to explode further.

If you are a wellness entrepreneur, you must be feeling all-set for success, right? If not, I understand you. I decided to do my own research. I went through countless online articles on wellness. The more I read, I realized that I understood absolutely nothing!

Although there’s a lot of talk about wellness, it is difficult to explain it.

Wellness has become a very trendy word. We use the term “wellness” very often in our daily conversations. It seems like the word has been a part of our vocabulary for ages.

But, that’s not true! Wellness, as a topic, gained its biggest online hype in as recent as February 2017.

But the buzz around wellness gives it an almost cult-like status.

Many companies are riding the profitable waves of this industry. Every other article gives you tips to achieve wellness. They claim that you can achieve it in a few months, or even days.

Most of them wrongly presume that the term “wellness” is a straightforward one. But I was determined to simplify it for my own sake. After all, marketing anything is impossible if you cannot explain it in the first place.

What is wellness?

Unfazed by the initial confusion, I managed to find definitions of wellness.

  • Wellness is a qualitative measure of a being’s physical and mental health after deliberate actions taken to achieve it.
  • It is also a preventive approach to healthcare, unlike numerous treatments, intended to avoid illness and prolong life.

These definitions clearly suggest that wellness is not a pre-existing state. It’s finding the perfect balance of good health and well-being relentlessly. 

Unlike pharmaceutical medicines and treatments, wellness isn’t a short-term notion. It is a holistic approach to health. 

History of Wellness

Like most of you, I’m a big fan of origin stories. It’s the best place to start learning about anything. History gives me the original perspective of the idea.

It cuts out all the hype and makes the idea more personal. More relatable. More clear. As a wellness professional, you must understand the value of clarity.

One might wonder how wellness became such a significant aspect of society. Even governments adopt it in their federal programs. Many alternative medicine practitioners credit the rise of wellness to medical doctors.

Medical treatments are by nature bound to treat only the disease. But wellness addresses the entirety of your being including your lifestyle. It focuses on every aspect of your lifestyle. It evaluates which aspects might influence your medical issues.

A brief history of wellness

I was shocked too. Something as benign as wellness had its roots in the provocative hippie revolution. The ’60s movement drove a generation of young minds away from mere practicality. They had a more holistic approach to life. 

The culture was a rebound to the atrocities of war. People attributed these circumstances to the establishment. The authority was allegedly controlling people’s emotions and lifestyle citing practicality. 

The hippie movement broke many barriers and stereotypes. It was an attempt to further humanity towards a higher value.

I was most fascinated by the 1970’s ‘running boom’. Running and jogging had become a lucrative activity towards achieving wellness. 

This was triggered after Frank Shorter won the men’s marathon in the 1972 Olympics. He was the third American to win in an Olympic marathon. But, he was the first since 1908. 

Running gained more popularity by the end of the decade. Elite runners had inspired society. This included Mavis Hutchison, Mary Slaney, and even President Jimmy Carter. Over 25 million Americans inculcated some form of running into their fitness routine.

Running became a staple for health-conscious people. But a paradigm shift was ready to take place in the mid-90s. 

People desperately sought the connection between the mind and the body. Yoga had begun to appeal to the masses. 

A healthy mind and a healthy body cannot be mutually exclusive. I’m sure that all wellness practitioners including you agree with it. This idea started gaining traction and spread across the world during this time. 

The gap between spirituality and practicality started to shrink. Yoga classes started to sprout across the USA. People from different walks of life enrolled and practiced the ancient art of wellness under one roof.

What Does Wellness Mean Today?

After researching its history, I was curious to find out what does wellness mean in today’s time. Wellness manifested society’s pursuit of achieving the perfect balance of health and wellbeing. Be it, physical, emotional, or even financial. 

Wellness has refined its meaning through time. The pendulum swings between practicality and spirituality, and vice versa. We are at an opportune moment where wellness can be applied combining both variables. 

History has proven how your physical health can be drastically affected by stress. We’ve seen examples of financial stress affecting us physically and emotionally. 

It’s time to apply wellness in a more holistic way. Aim to strike perfect harmony in every aspect of your life. It’s important to ask “What does wellness mean to you?”

Wellness is not a one-off incident. It is a true example of the oxymoron, ‘constant change.’ You have to always pursue it. And at the same time know that you’ve already done it. 

8 Dimensions of Wellness

My research made me aware that wellness was a broad topic. But I had no idea that it had eight dimensions. It made sense. Wellness is a holistic approach to life. This approach can be managed better if broken down into simpler parts. It can get tricky focusing on every aspect of your life. It is rather easy to focus on the “now” without understanding “how”. Most of the time, we only look at the physical component of our bodies. We equate its state to the state of our wellness. Our bodies are complicated biological machines. They are made of thousands of complicated parts. There are many parameters to consider for it to function well. The fundamental processes that run this marvelous machinery are simple. Hence, you can always take care of your body by getting the basics right. To attain wellness, you must focus on these eight dimensions that define “you” as a whole –

Physical Dimension of Wellness​

As a layman, I did not know the difference between being physically well and physically fit.

Being fit is the first and important step in being physically healthy. As wellness entrepreneurs, you need to clarify the necessity of this step.

Your physical health is the most obvious dimensions that you can focus on. Your body gives you instant responses. This enables you to gauge your wellbeing. Not reading these signs correctly can affect your physical health.  

I figured that most articles online suggest physical wellness to be synonymous to weight loss. But that’s a rather shallow approach towards attaining it. Physical wellness is recognizing your need in the three aspects:

Eating healthy foods

If you are like me, you might not remember what you ate yesterday. In fact, my eating habits have not been conscious since the very beginning. 

My natural metabolism took care of me since childhood. Until the day I noticed my paunch at the age of 25. It wasn’t supposed to be there, right? 

At any point in time, reconsidering your dietary choices is always a good idea.

It’s true that your food habits are part of your identity. It is also true that the diet you are used to since childhood may not be the best for you. 

Most of our inherited recipes have traditional value. But they are also capable of affecting your health. Especially, if you are not mindful of what you eat. 

My paunch wasn’t my metabolism’s fault. It was a result of not counting the pizza feasts I had in the year.

Know what you put in your body and what it does to your body. The internet is a portal to a plethora of recipes and diet plans. 

Without getting overwhelmed by it, you should choose a diet plan that suits you. One capable of providing the right nutrition to your body. One that will help it function seamlessly.

Exercising or doing a physical activity

I’m sure you know many people that cringe when you suggest any exercise. It’s natural. And you should let them know that. 

Movement is essential. Not just for your body, but also for your mind. Over 20% of your total metabolic activity is used up by brain processing. The brain needs a good flow of glucose, oxygen, and hormones. This helps you develop your brain’s cognitive abilities

You do not have to sign up for a gym class to get your fitness right. Maintaining physical fitness can be a pleasurable task. You must only choose activities that you enjoy.

For instance, if you enjoy your time outdoors, take short strolls regularly. If you wish to cover more ground, explore the neighborhood with your bicycle. If you enjoy music and would love to incorporate it in your journey to fitness, join a dance class. 

Consciously do the little things. Like taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Or parking your car slightly away from your office or house. Or tidying up your house on a regular basis. Every movement adds on to the foundation of achieving physical wellness.

Taking adequate rest

Resting your body is non-negotiable. Your body is designed to rest in order to function properly.

As wellness professionals, you should explain the benefits of doing nothing! At least for 1/3rd of the day.

During the daytime, your body goes through a lot of wear and tear. Taking a good night’s sleep gives your body the time to repair. It enhances memory recall and improves mental alertness.

Without adequate rest, the body is prone to be lethargic. You get irritated easily. And you increase the risk of catching several diseases.

With ample sleep, your body is primed to convert healthy food into energy for the next day. A good rest is the best way to detox your body. The importance of sleep is the missing piece in health conversations today.

Author Shawn Stevenson learned it the hard way. A degenerative bone disorder had crushed his dream of becoming an author. He had given up on his life. Until he decided to do something about it. He optimized his nutrition and coupled it with better sleep.

He magically healed himself. Stevenson achieved his fitness and business goals just by sleeping better. His book, ‘Sleep Smarter: 21 Essential Strategies to Sleep Your Way to A Better Body, Better Health, and Bigger Success,’ documents his journey to physical wellness through enriching sleep.

Honestly, I have never experienced insomnia. But I’ve had many friends who face this problem. As I researched more on the topic, I found a big gap in terms of explaining the problem. As wellness entrepreneurs, you must improve your skills in explaining the benefits of good sleep.

Identifying the key components of physical wellness:

A holistic evaluation of health is important. As a wellness entrepreneur, you won’t get a more tangible dimension like physical wellness. 

To make it valuable, you can make it measurable and actionable for your clients. Physical fitness is characterized into three major components. 

Being able to lift and maneuver items with weight indicate appropriate muscle and tendon strength. It also indicates strong bones with good stress-bearing capacity.

A well-functioning heart is key to good health. A healthy heart suggests that the circulation of blood in your body is at its best. It ensures that every organ of your body is provided with the required nutrition. 

Maintaining good cardiovascular health eliminates the risks of various diseases that could affect your overall health.

Renowned contortionists amaze you. But at the same time, overwhelm me. A petty thing like that might be enough to discourage you from pursuing a flexible body. It might even make you believe that flexibility is not a priority to achieve fitness. 

But flexibility is one of the most important aspects of your physical wellness. A flexible body prevents wear and tear of the muscles when subjected to stress or pressure. It makes your body carry out any activity with ease. If your body doesn’t feel any strain, you eliminate the chances of injury.

If you want to evaluate your physical wellness, these three categories provide great indicators. Categorizing your physical wellness goals makes it even more achievable. 

Physical wellness is the first stop in the journey of wellness. Checking this box is necessary before moving on to any other dimension. 

It is the most accessible and influential dimension of wellness. Any imbalance in physical wellness can seep into your other problems. Be it social, occupational, or emotional wellness.

Emotional Dimension of Wellness​

‘Being’ and ‘feeling’ are the most natural sensations that make you self-aware. 

Emotions are a beautiful byproduct of evolution. A nonreturnable gift to humanity. As a wellness professional, you know that your success rides on how you make your clients feel. And how your client ‘feels’ about you. 

How much ever you try, you cannot escape your emotions. But you can manage them. After all, it is all in your head!

Your brain contains 100 Billion neurons. Each neuron fires up connecting to at least 10,000 other neurons and transfers information. A combination of these information transactions constitutes a thought. 

The interpretation of our thoughts based on a lifetime of experience empowers you to take important decisions as well as to form your emotions. 

That is all we do. Every second, with every thought, we decide and feel.

Emotional wellness is your ability to be aware of the host of emotions and accept it unconditionally. 

It is not striving to experience the extremities of the core emotions like sadness, anger, or joy. It is merely allowing yourself to synthesize the sensations and correlate it to your actions and behavior. 

Attaining emotional wellness makes you achieve clarity of thought. It gives you the ability to have a fresh perspective on any circumstance you face. It helps you calibrate your life goals and maintain a positive attitude. 

 

Introspection and Self Reflection

I’m an emotional guy. I know how abruptly emotions can take over. And suddenly, you don’t even feel in control of your own actions. 

Know that your emotions are nothing more than your brain processing a thought. This realization gives you a deeper perspective on your own nature. Practicing being aware of your emotions can create a peaceful environment in your mind. 

It will create more room for every emotion to foster. And develop the mind to make actionable decisions. Introspection gives you the power to recognize the potentiality of your emotions. 

Stress and Emotional Wellness

We all talk about how stress ruins everything!

Stress is the most common element that hampers emotional wellness.

It doesn’t surprise me when 73% of Americans agree that stress has affected them psychologically.

It is necessary to understand why we get stressed in the first place.

Stress is your body’s natural response to a threat, a challenge, or excitement. It neither has a positive nor a negative attribute. Harboring stress can only be an issue if it is often and takes time to fade away.

On the other hand, getting rid of stress altogether is not a healthy sign.

Stress is a powerful and necessary motivator that forces your body to perform at its maximum potential. Use stress to your advantage by taking these three steps consciously:

  1. Accept the physical sensation of stress and mark it to be positive.
  2. Know the moments and triggers when stress is motivating and when it is paralyzing
  3. Always aim to bring down stress to the level where you can manage it easily.
 

When it comes to emotional health, it is helpful to know that you are not alone.

You always have an ecosystem of friends, family members, colleagues, and many like-minded people that you have not met yet, that understand your emotions.

Any amount of undesirable stress can be managed by ‘sharing.’

Surrounding yourself with people that understand, and at times challenge, you can boost your emotional wellness.

I had never heard of intellectual wellness before I researched it. I believed that intellect is a natural gift that needs no tweaking.

But the more I read about it, the more it made sense.
Without knowledge, there’s no clarity.

And without clarity, your brain is going to be stuck in a loop of unusable thoughts. 

Being intellectually well brings transparency to your personality. And the best food for your intellect is knowledge.

As you grow, so does your capacity to gain knowledge. Although brain development stops in adulthood, learning does not. Intellectual wellness includes taking part in activities that expand your skill set and knowledge. 

Intellectual wellness can be one of the easiest dimensions to work on. You can start off by keeping 15-20 minutes in a day for activities boosting your intellectual capacity. Be it reading a book, the newspaper, or listening to an interesting podcast. 

Ideally, an intellectual person possesses the following characteristics:

  • Exploring new ideas
  • Getting involved in cultural activities
  • Fostering mental stimulation and growth

Pursuing intellectual wellness not only broadens your knowledge but also propels your self-confidence. It improves your social interactions and gives you the edge to efficiently carry out your daily responsibilities. 

Working towards intellectual wellness strengthens your belief in yourself. I came across this podcast by The Health Bloke featuring Andrew Jobling. It is titled, ‘Addressing Intellectual Wellness.’

Jobling started out as a professional AFL player and is now a successful trainer. He emphasizes three key ingredients to be successful: courage, belief, and faith. The podcast discusses the importance of developing your intellect before any other aspect. 

I strongly urge you to listen to the conversation. Maybe it will change your perspective on intellectual wellness.  And it might help your clients too.

How can you engage in the process of intellectual wellness?

Be open to new ideas

Being open-minded is the key to achieve intellectual wellness. And listening is the key to being open-minded. We all have different opinions about everything. 

As wellness practitioners, you know the joy of being open-minded. It is the only thing that made you pick a career that’s not a societal norm. 

Your perspective on things like these can be very helpful to your clients. All you have to do is tell them how easy it is to be open-minded. And how being receptive to new ideas can open up a new world of opportunity.

It is important to hold back the self-defense mechanism of rejecting a new idea when you hear it for the first time. 

Whenever you come across a radical idea, looking at it as a learning experience without prejudice is always fruitful. 

Instead of reacting to it in a compulsive way, it is wise to have a thoughtful response. Being open-minded does not mean that you blindly accept any idea. 

Ask questions to allow the idea to unfold itself in a way you understand.

Learn new skills for personal growth

My mother tells stories from my childhood where I broke the radio just to see what it had inside. Whenever my father scolded me for something like this, she always jumped in to defend me. 

She was the one who encouraged me to be curious. I’m sure you’ve had similar stories like mine.

Curiosity drove us to learn new things when we were children. As we grew up, the curiosity seemed to fade away. 

Learning new things became an uphill task and visibly shunted our growth potential. The story need not end there. 

The biggest ‘excuse’ for hindering our curiosity is that it is ‘not necessary anymore’. For children, learning new things is essential to growing up in the real world. 

For adults, learning new things is important to grow internally

Personal growth is a continuous process of understanding yourself and developing yourself to achieve your full potential. It is the key to find true success, happiness, and maturity. 

Personal growth and intellectual wellness build the necessary foundation for your physical, emotional, as well as your spiritual health. 

Learning new skills can be sourced from your hobbies or the dreams of your younger self. You may not become an astronaut, a movie star, or a pilot anymore due to various reasons. 

But reading about those professions can open you up to various fields where you can contribute with your new skills. Moreover, learning new skills will rejuvenate your perspective on your current lifestyle and routine.

Search for mentally stimulating activities

Boredom and monotony make way for frustration and stress. Choosing mentally challenging activities train the part of your brain that is designed to solve problems.

Taking out time to solve simple puzzles or quizzes is a good place to start.

But the brain doesn’t know that!

Undertaking the activity itself triggers parts of your brain that focus on the nuances involved in problem-solving.

Opting for mentally stimulating activities can not only be fun but also reduce the chances of brain degenerative disorders like dementia.

You can choose from many different activities that suit you best. For instance:

  1. Jigsaw, word, number or crossword puzzles
  2. Card games or board games, online or offline
  3. Recreational activities like carpentry, gardening, cooking
  4. Visiting the local library to research on topics of your interest
  5. Reading or trying to write poetry or essays on topics you care about
  6. Visiting an offbeat art display, or a museum
  7. Reading books of different genres and styles
  8. Volunteering or contributing to various communities with your time and effort
 

Find ways to use your creativity

As you practice being more receptive to ideas, you generate some genius ones on your own. Creativity is like a muscle in your body that needs to be challenged. It needs stretching and a push to survive out of the comfort zone. 

Creativity is not bounded by situation or platform.

If you have a regular day job, it may seem that you have no avenues to showcase your creativity. 

However, the truth is far from it. Creativity is not a formula that works on one particular equation. Creativity is flexible. 

If you put in some thought in it, your corporate workplace is a huge platform with a good audience to unravel your creativity. 

If you are in marketing, use your creativity in making some outstanding presentations to impress more clients. 

If you are in management, gamify your team’s work process to get the best out of them. 

If you have an entry-level job, impress your superiors by giving something more than they’d expect. 

Wherever you are, your creativity will raise the bar. 

I wish I had this perspective in my previous 9-5 job. But it’s never too late. As wellness entrepreneurs, you must let your clients know the luxury of expressing their creativity irrespective of the platform they have.

Working on the dimension of intellectual wellness can be a rewarding experience. It requires setting a larger-than-life goal in your life. 

The best part is that no one needs to know about this goal. 

Renowned intellectuals have a thing going for them. They have this aura of mystery around them. This is despite the fact that their work can be defined in pretty simple terms. 

Intellectual wellness is a playing field for you to be more aware of your potential through knowledge and an open mind.

Spiritual Dimension of Wellness​

I absolutely hate the overuse of the word ‘spiritual.’ It sounds like a cop-out from actually explaining things.

Moreover, overusing ‘spirit’ in popular culture to mean things like ‘ghosts’ makes it all the more vague.

While researching spiritual wellness, I was bracing myself to read some flowery articles that didn’t help. Although I came across a lot of them, there were other articles that did explain it better.

As wellness practitioners, you must cut through the hype of spiritual wellness. Your goal should be to help your clients take away elements that they can work with.

Like intellectual wellness, spiritual wellness is a personal quest. It involves trying to answer the biggest question ever asked, “What is the meaning of life?”

Scientists, philosophers, and intellectuals have debated and attempted to solve this conundrum. The problem is not with the answer but the question itself. 

It is loaded to look like an objective problem statement. But the question is very personal stemming from a very human perspective. 

The true question is “What is the meaning of life…to you?”

 

To attain spiritual wellness you need to establish your own belief system, ethics, morals, and values. It is a personal journey. It doesn’t even matter how you define spirituality, so long as it means something to you. 

This privatization might seem to be a hindrance in finding group activities. But it need not be. 

Just like many personal facets of your life, spirituality can be rewarding when shared. You will find many like-minded seekers of spiritual wellness just by sharing your goals, ambitions, and values. 

Spiritual wellness gives your intellect the context it needs to move forward. It affirms the essence of your individuality. It drives your potential towards an intended purpose. 

Simply establishing your values takes you nowhere. Your values need to be manifested into real actions for it to count. Being spiritually well gives you the confidence and the push to make things happen for you. 

Regardless of your definition, these three checkpoints can guide you to spiritual wellness.

Set an Intention

Intention is not merely a wish. Intention encompasses the whole picture of a desire: the feeling, the approach, and the attitude. 

In today’s fast-paced world, it is difficult to take out time for yourself and your thoughts. You need to set a time to introspect and reflect on your day. 

This will help you analyze your relationship with the outside world. And give you important feedback to align it with your spiritual beliefs. Having clarity about why you do what you do reinforces your intention on a daily basis. 

Express Gratitude

Gratitude is a prime motivator. Both, for the person who expresses it and for the one who receives it. 

It moves and connects people by the sheer act. Expressing gratitude is nothing more than appreciating. Every day you go on about your routine. Some days are good, some are bad. 

But for every incident ever occurred, there are many factors involved for it to happen. Every moment of reality is a manifestation of countless ideas, people, cultures, and chance. 

Appreciating people around you and the universe itself is a practice that will instill humility. Once you have humility, you will be able to appreciate your own self and your potential to achieve spiritual wellness. 

Expressing gratitude opens up your spiritual world giving you more things to be grateful for. 

Follow Your Bliss

When Joseph Campbell cited the Upanishads and said “Follow your bliss”, it took the world by storm.

Campbell asked of people to follow the path that they had already decided to walk on and achieve what they deserve.

With every thought, you put into valuing your life, with every intention you set your goals, and every time you open up your mind with gratitude, you pave a blissful way for your journey.

All that is left for you to do is walk.

Following your bliss is the easiest thing to do after all the effort you have put in to achieve spiritual wellness.

Your quest for spiritual wellness is one of the most personal journeys ever. 

Taking out time for yourself is key and exploring a whole universe inside you can increase the depth of your being.

Practicing meditation and mindfulness will bring you closer to your values. It will bring you closer to your loved ones. It will bring you closer to the real world and ascertain your place in it.

Social Dimension of Wellness​

I’m a big fan of the history of mankind.

Especially 52 million years ago when we realized that we wouldn’t survive as a species if we’re not together.

Despite literally being savages, we respected our relationships.

Not a lot has changed since then. 

Social wellness focuses exactly on that aspect of our existence. It’s the health of your relationships and your capacity to build them. It involves how you communicate with people. 

It involves how you approach sustaining long-term relationships of all kinds. Social wellness is a measure of your ability to foster genuine connections, be it personal or professional. 

Wellness experts, such as yourselves, know the importance of having good relationship skills. We all need people in our lives to understand us and care for us. Having healthy connections creates a healthy ecosystem around you that you can rely on. 

Realizing the necessity of this symbiosis is the first step towards having a social life. The need for people is obvious and hardwired in our nature. 

Being social is a beautiful balance between ‘selfish’ and ‘selfless’. That’s a key piece of knowledge that you must make your clients realize.

 

Social Wellness and Empathy

Being empathetic is the first step your client should take towards social wellness.

‘Empathy’ is an evolutionary byproduct and a foundational emotion we possess. It is the reason why you are able to feel the pain of a complete stranger. 

It is also the source of being able to be selfless. You realize at a very young age that you can’t stand someone else’s suffering. 

As you mature in life, you are able to understand other’s suffering to the minutest detail. Empathy is the binding force of the sense of community. 

Humanity and Society

Historically, after separating from our common ancestors, humans survived as a species solely due to community. After descending from the safe and tall trees, we were exposed to the terrain dominated by the predators. 

Being physically feeble, no individual would’ve survived the perils of the terrain. But in numbers, we managed to survive.

Financial Dimension of Wellness​

I thought that financial wellness was the same as being wealthy. Not rich, wealthy!
It would’ve made sense that way too, but financial wellness has a more personal angle to it.

It takes a step back and allows you to figure out your position in the economic world. It gives you space to breathe and understand your relationship with money.

We all know that most of the population are stressed about money. The financial world has never looked more convoluted. And the desperation about money has gripped every human being across the globe. 

Over 65% of Americans are stressed about their financial situation, according to a recent survey by the American Psychological Association.

How do you find financial wellness in such a chaotic situation? The key is to create a budget for yourself and stick to it. However, financial wellness is not just about the numbers. 

Financial wellness enables you to reestablish the value of money in your life. It makes you independent of all the external distress about finances. And it gives you time to rejuvenate your plans for, and with money.

Environmental Dimension of Wellness​

Environmental wellness was the most surprising dimension of wellness I came across.

For instance, I had no idea how environmental wellness can benefit your personal life goals .

Moreover, I had no clue how a wellness entrepreneur could help someone explaining what it meant. But like many things prior to this research, I was wrong!

Firstly, environmental wellness is not a dimension beyond your own self. It still links to your definition of yourself. Also, it’s not about being rebellious and going green. 

Environmental wellness is basically nurturing the environment around you and hence uplifting your individual life. 

It includes the way you interact with your routine environment. 

The desire to play a part in keeping the rivers clean, the air pure, and farms fertile, is beyond an attempt to be a good Samaritan. 

It is a form of gratitude to the all-nurturing and life-sustaining earth. Gratitude that we share with every conscious being residing on the planet. However, environmental wellness does not have to be large scale to be meaningful.

Your environment is made up of all the places you are in every single day. De-cluttering your room contributes just as much to your wellbeing as tending to your neighborhood garden.

If your client can create a good environment around themselves, it will benefit their mindset and lifestyle.

Your environment is an extension of your life. The more aligned your environment is to wellbeing and abundance, the better is the quality of your state of mind. 

This explains why de-cluttering your room is such a satisfying experience. There are numerous environmentally conscious practices that you can adopt. 

  1. You can start off with throwing away all the plastic things that have no functional or aesthetic value. 
  2. Alter your food habits slightly and opt for local and seasonal food items without compromising on nutrition. This does not simply support your local markets to thrive, it also saves the earth from pollution caused during transportation.
  3. Make conscious decisions while traveling. If you’re going to the grocery store a few blocks away, try walking instead of driving. If you are traveling farther, consider using public transportation.
  4. Before going to any shop, carry reusable bags.  
  5. Turn off the faucets or light switches whenever necessary. Do not shy away from being a little bit annoying to the rest of your house members.
  6. Take out time to unsubscribe to junk mail.
  7. Recycle. Find out community projects in your area that will gladly take your plastic waste.
  8. Try to reduce food wastage by committing to cooking only the necessary quantity of food.

Environmental wellness gives you a cosmic perspective to your existence. 

When you realize that the world can be made better by adopting simple tasks, it rejuvenates your faith in life. 

 
It makes you an indispensable contributor to the universe while keeping you down to earth.
